'The Imprisoned Soldier' - a poem

The prisoner of innocence
he was a pure soul,
but destiny didn’t keep
her date that fateful day.
His posterity inherited loss,
a loss irreparable,
a truth irreconcilable,
a damage irremediable.
He was an obedient son
then a sincere husband
and a caring father;
yet it had to be,
he had to go –
to serve
for a greater cause,
putting nation first.
We drew boundaries,
the shadowy demarcations;
a prisoner he stayed all life ,
of relationships, of morality
and now of farce,
falsehood, of innocence,
of the invisible dividing lines
those that we call boundaries.

Nice Amritbir.
Did you confuse the gender in the 4th line?
Prisoner of boundaries huh!! So sad that we create boundaries and start hating people on different sides :(

Thanks Surender ji for your constant feedback. I simply put into words what I feel. It is just a humble effort on my part, that's it.

Thank you Issam ji for your wonderful comment. The 4th line which you mentioned - 'her' is used there for destiny and not the soldier. Thanks for showing concern.

Nice of you to pay a tribute for the forgotten POWs. It is really tragic that these men have to go through such prolonged suffering. We must do everything we can to bring them home. That was a really wonderful poem. Thank you.

Check out this video. Osho reflects the same thought behind this poem.
