I follow the traces
in my mind:
some faces lingering there I find,
they have no names,
no voice, no visage;
forgiven but not forgotten
they hang on to haunt.
I try not to cast a glance
to come out of the momentary trance
but they continue to stay on:
as a faceless, nameless
obscure identity.
Mindful of those I move on,
swear not to turn back ever
yet being wary of their eerie existence.

Pranam!
'Swear not to turn back ever'- If you could keep up this oath its great....But the nature will make you turn back.... make everybody turn back....
But here, why 'turning back'?
The 'traces' are there right in front of you no? Can you deny?
Because unknowingly you disclosed that fact lay deep within you in the very 1st line:
'I follow the traces in my mind'
Means what?
Still those traces are being followed.... means the traces are there right in front of you....and you are following the traces-
So now let your blessed soul be contented by swearing 'never turn back' as the traces are in front of you....
By swearing you are reconfirming yourself about the natural commitment to your own self by assuring, the traces in front of you will be always on your eyes(bcs you sworn in as you wont turn back!)and will be taken care of beyond the time!
Why I wrote this much is that, may be because of my gifted foolishness I am struck upon a beautiful twist expands in between these lines of the poem.
Altogether I saw a kid who keeps the chocolate safe inside his biceps and settles a score with his mom by vehemently arguing that 'I wont have'-because Mom gave him the chocolate bit late!
A meaningful work altogether...
Often happens na? Some random stranger's face lingers on in your head for long and long. and you try and rid it... but it doesn't go away.
it's a slightly weird topic for a poem. but very imaginative. and well put. :)
Theres a lot of depth in your poem Amritbir, keep up!All the very best to you :)
Some faces just don't leave us....
To ignore them becomes very difficult...
